Health Minister to open Asia Pacific Nursing Congress in Sydney
The
Federal Minister for Health and Ageing, Tony Abbott, is to open
the Asia Pacific Nursing Congress, which runs from 10-12 November
in Sydney. The first Congress was held in Seoul, Korea in 1999.
Its purpose is to establish professional nursing links between
countries in the region.
The Congress will be discussing issues such as worldwide nursing
shortages, migration and the ethical recruitment of nurses; the
impact of infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS; trade agreements
and their impact on nursing and health policy; and, nursing education
models in the Asia Pacific context.
