ANF resolution to bring David Hicks home
The Australian Nursing Federation’s Federal Executive today passed a resolution demanding the Australian Government act to request the immediate repatriation of David Hicks from Guantanamo Bay.
The resolution states: The ANF asserts that all Australians have the right to receive a fair trial. The British, Spanish and French Government’s have all refused to allow their citizens to be tried in Guantanamo Bay. Even the Americans have removed their citizens from Guantanamo Bay and ensured they face a fair trial at home. David Hicks has been denied basic rights and protections afforded all Australian citizens, here and abroad and has remained incarcerated without trial in Guantanamo Bay for five years. The ANF Federal Executive demands that the Australian Government acts immediately to enforce the return of David Hicks to Australia, under whatever arrangements can be negotiated.
