10 October 2007 RACV Club, 501 Bourke St., Melbourne 3000 Announcing the Australian Nursing Federation’s 8th Biennial National Conference Thursday and Friday 11 and 12 October The Australian Nursing Federation (ANF) invites media and interested parties to attend the ANF’s 8th Biennial National Conference. The conference agenda includes eminent speakers discussing Australia’s social justice, industrial relations and environmental future. ANF Federal Secretary Jill Iliffe said, “As the conference will occur during a federal election year we felt it was important to explore the issues faced by all Australians. The topics to be considered during the sessions are of utmost importance to the future and health of the nation.” The conference will be opened at 8:30 am on Thursday with a welcome to country by Professor Joy Murphy-Wandin, followed by the launch of the ANF Reconciliation Action Plan. Phil Glendenning director of the Edmund Rice Centre and National President of Australians for Native Title and Reconciliation (ANTaR) is keynote speaker and will address delegates on the topical issue of Australian values and their relevance to WorkChoices, social justice, and the environment. Mr Glendenning will speak at 9:15am on Thursday 11 October. Sharan Burrow, ACTU President will speak at 8:45am on Friday, 12 October.
