The Australian Nursing Federation is one of the largest and fastest growing unions in Australia. You, our members are considered the most credible and trusted professions in this country. The 2011 Ray Morgan Image of Professions Survey found that 90% of Australians aged 14 and over rate nurses as the most ethical and honest profession - the 17th year in a row since nurses were first included on the survey in 1994. These credentials put us in a position of being a force to be reckoned with.
The ANF continues to fight for health reform in an environment of change, it is never easy or without challenge but it is a very real part of the work we strive to achieve for members and for the community. Reform of the health system, redesign of the health workforce, a focus on the role of nurses and a better understanding of the value nurses add to the health of this nation is driving our health system forward. The future direction the health system must and will be fashioned by those who work in the system and who are cared for within it.
The ANF works long and hard to ensure your voices are heard at the highest level.
Welcome to our website where we post a vast array of information and I encourage you to take a browse through its pages. Visit the Aged Care hot topics page to learn about our Because We Care Campaign and the struggle for better wages and working conditions for nurses, assistants in nursing and personal care workers and better accountability for the tax payer money given to aged care providers.
Have a look at the Future of Australia’s health page to find out what is happening for nurses with the Government’s Health Reform Agenda. And find out about the range of social justice issues we support through the Social Justice page.
In addition there are links to each of the State and Territory branch websites with local information and membership details.
The future is bright for the ANF with over 200,000 nurses, midwives and assistants in nursing nationally. The future is bright for nursing, with new clinical career options particularly in Primary Health Care, and a Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer representing us at the federal level.
The ANF will continue to advocate nationally for nurses, midwives and assistants in nursing, industrially and professionally and we congratulate you, our members, for your hard work and loyalty.
Kind regards,
Lee
ANF Federal Secretary
