SEATO Nurse Update The Federal Government has thrown yet more obstacles in the path of SEATO nurses injured as a result of their service in Vietnam. After refusing to accept a recommendation from an independent review, that SEATO nurses be entitled to claim benefits under the Veterans' Entitlements Act 1986, the Minister for Veterans' Affairs, Mr Bruce Scott, encouraged nurses to make claims under COMCARE, the Commonwealth employees workers compensation system. At the same time his colleague, Mr Tony Abbott, Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations and Small Business, is pushing ahead with legislation to make it even harder for nurses to make successful claims under COMCARE. See the article in the August Journal for details - available online as a PDF file. Support SEATO nurses by sending letters to Senators in your State/Territory. Senators and their contact details are listed below. Collect signatures for the Petition which is available online as a PDF file. NEW SOUTH WALES Sen.
